COMEDIAN MARLON WAYANS TO PERFORM AT CHUMASH CASINO RESORT
SANTA YNEZ, CA – June 9, 2023 – Comedian Marlon Wayans will bring his North American stand-up tour, “Microphone Fiend,” to the Samala Showroom at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 14 at the Chumash Casino Resort. Tickets for the show are $39, $49, $59, $64 and $69.
After years of success in TV and film, Wayans launched his first stand-up comedy special, “Woke-ish,” on Netflix in 2018 and followed with three more on HBO Max, including his latest, “God Loves Me,” which was released earlier this year. He has now embarked on a summer tour that includes one special night at the Chumash Casino Resort.
The actor, screenwriter, producer, director and comic was born and raised in New York as the youngest of the 10 well-known Wayans siblings. In 1988, at the age of 16, he made his film debut in “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka,” his brother Keenen Ivory Wayan’s parody film. Marlon left college after just two years to take a role in his brother’s hit TV show, “In Living Color.” In 1996, Wayans again teamed up with his brothers to film the wildly successful, “Don’t Be a Menace in South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,” another hit parody film.
He glided into the spotlight, winning widespread popularity when he co-starred in the WB hit sitcom, “The Wayans Bros,” an autobiographical show based on the brothers’ real relationship and personalities. The show ran from 1995-1999 and shot Wayans to stardom. In the proceeding years, he co-wrote, produced and appeared in a slew of films and TV shows. In 2000, he co-wrote and acted in his most popular film to date, the blockbuster, history-making spoof, “Scary Movie.” Wayans followed up the breakout film with several sequels from 2001-2006, which he co-wrote and appeared in. He also starred in the popular cult-classic film, “White Chicks,” in 2004. He has also starred in notable films like “A Haunted House,” “A Haunted House 2” and “Sextuplets.”
Wayans later co-founded the urban comedy digital media company, “What the Funny.” He also created his own self-titled sitcom, “Marlon” which aired from 2017-2018. Most recently, Wayans starred in Netflix’s, “The Curse of Bridge Hollow,” and the 2023 hit film, “Air.”
