FUNK-ROCK BAND WAR TO PERFORM AT CHUMASH CASINO RESORT
SANTA YNEZ, CA – January 22, 2026 – War, the legendary American funk-rock band, will bring their electrifying, genre-blending live performance to the Chumash Casino Resort’s Samala Showroom at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026. Tickets for the show are $50, $60, and $70.
Founded in 1969, the group began as a collaboration between British singer Eric Burdon and a group of talented musicians from California with a mission to fight against social injustice and promote peace through music. Officially launching as Eric Burdon & War, the band delivered a highly successful first live performance, which paved the way for their debut album, “Eric Burdon Declares War,” released in 1970. The album featured the group’s popular track “Spill the Wine,” which became a worldwide success and propelled them into the mainstream, helping establish their signature genre-blending sound.
In 1975, the band achieved a No. 1 hit on the Billboard R&B singles chart with “Low Rider,” which also peaked at No. 7 on the Hot 100 singles chart. The song became a pop culture phenomenon, being featured in movies such as Cheech & Chong’s “Up in Smoke” in 1978 and “Dazed and Confused” in 1993, and later getting inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014.
The band currently features founding member Leroy “Lonnie” Jordan, as well as Scott Martin, James Zota Baker, Sal Rodriguez, Marcos Reyes, Mitch Kashmar and Rene Camacho. Known for their unique fusion of funk, soul, rock, R&B, Latin and jazz, the group has earned an impressive 17 gold, platinum, or multi-platinum awards over the course of their career. They have many songs and albums recognized as essential and influential by critics such as “All Day Music,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “Slippin’ Into Darkness,” and “The Cisco Kid.” In addition, their album, “The World Is a Ghetto,” was ranked no. 444 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums.
