SANTA YNEZ, CA – January 7, 2019 – The Norteño genre’s Los Tucanes de Tijuana will bring their fast-paced and energizing show to the Chumash Casino Resort’s Samala Showroom at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019. Tickets for the show are $49, $54, $59, $69 & $79.
Los Tucanes de Tijuana, whose popularity earned them a spot in this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, have been nominated for five Grammy Awards over the past 17 years.
The band was founded in 1987 by lead vocalist and composer Mario Quintero Lara and a group of talented friends in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. From humble beginnings playing at nightclubs, they’ve grown to become one of the most successful and sought after Norteño bands in Mexico, Latin America and the United States. They have been credited for being the global ambassadors of Norteño music and Corrido ballads.
Los Tucanes de Tijuana are well-known for captivating the hearts of their fans through their romantic lyrics and also for their controversial Corridos. However, regardless of the theme, the group always tries to send a positive message to its fans.
Over the past four decades, Los Tucanes De Tijuana has sold more than 5 million records in the United States and Latin America. They were also the first Regional Mexican Norteño band to win an international film award when they received an Angel Film Award at the Monaco International Film Festival. As well, they were the first Regional Mexican Norteño band to participate in the opening video of Super Bowl LI.
Joining Mario Quintero Lara on stage will be David Servin Raya (percussions), Tomas Herrera (electric bass), Gustavo Labrada Valenzuela (drums) and Alfredo Gonzalez Gonzalez (accordion and back-up vocals).
