R&B FUNK BAND TOWER OF POWER TO PERFORM AT CHUMASH CASINO RESORT

SANTA YNEZ, CA – June 15, 2022 – Tower of Power, the R&B funk band that has been entertaining audiences for over 50 years, bring their musical talents to the Samala Showroom at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 8 at the Chumash Casino Resort. Tickets for the show are $39, $49, $59, $64 and $69.

Formed in 1968 in Oakland, Calif., Tower of Power have been putting out albums for over 50 years, with their first, “East Bay Grease” in 1970, and their most recent “Step Up” in 2020. Known for having a horn section and an R&B and funk sound, they have put out several hit songs over the years, eight of which have been on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including “So Very Hard to Go,” “You’re Still a Young Man,” “What is Hip?” and “Don’t Change Horses.”

The 10-member band has featured an array of instruments over the decades, including saxophone, drums, keyboard, trumpet, trombone and bass guitar. Using this unique blend of sound, they reached the height of their success in 1973 with their most successful hit single “So Very Hard to go,” which peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tower of Power continued to have success throughout the 1970s during the height of their popularity, and in total have released 22 studio albums, six live albums and six compilation albums.  

The band’s horn section has lent their musical talents to many other artists’ recordings as well, including Otis Redding, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Elton John and Stevie Nicks.
