THE COMMODORES TO PERFORM AT CHUMASH CASINO RESORT ON OCT. 4

SANTA YNEZ, CA – September 19, 2024 – The Commodores, who are best known for hits such as “Brick House” and “Nightshift,” will fill the Samala Showroom with their iconic brand of R&B and funk at 8 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Chumash Casino Resort. Tickets for the show are $49, $54, $59, $74 and $79.  

The accomplished group, currently featuring founding member William “WAK” King (trumpet, guitar, keyboards, vocals), Walter Orange (drums, vocals), and James Dean “J.D.” Nicholas (vocals), have earned seven No. 1 singles and five No. 1 albums while selling over 70 million albums worldwide throughout its history. The group has been nominated for nine Grammy Awards, winning one in 1985 for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for its hit “Nightshift.” 

Formed in 1968, the band’s original members were students from Tuskegee Institute, Alabama. After being discovered by acclaimed record producer Berry Gordy and signed with Motown in 1972, the group first caught the public eye opening for the Jackson 5 while on tour. Following the release of their debut album, “Machine Gun,” in 1974, The Commodores continued to thrill audiences around the world with classic hits like “Three Times A Lady,” “Brick House,” and “Sail On.” 

The group has maintained a legacy in the funk and soul genres for over five decades and has been recognized with inductions into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.
