Raul Armenta
BUSINESS COMMITTEE MEMBER, Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians
ELECTED TO the Business Committee in 2016, Raul Armenta joined the board with significant tribal government experience after serving more than two decades on the tribe’s Gaming Commission. As part of the Gaming Commission, he, along with four other members, was responsible for providing regulatory oversight and ensuring that operations are in compliance with the appropriate gaming regulations.
He is currently serving his fifth consecutive two-year term on the Business Committee.
Armenta grew up in Lompoc, Calif., but spent summers and weekends visiting his grandparents and other relatives on the Santa Ynez Reservation. He can easily recall a time when the reservation had no running water and credits the tribe’s progress over the past few decades to the tribe’s unwavering dedication to economic self-sufficiency.
He looks forward to continuing the legacy of building a solid economic foundation for future generations of the Chumash tribe.
