SANTA YNEZ, CA – January 28, 2019 – A Newbury Park man won the “Drive Your Dreams” giveaway Sunday night at the Chumash Casino Resort, acquiring keys to the $150,000 Maserati GranTurismo that has been on display near the casino entrance in a large “toy car” package for the past three months.

The winner, a guest known as Dean D., said he had a feeling his name would be called when the quarterly grand prize giveaway announcement was made at 10 p.m.

“I was playing at a slot machine, and I was thinking about which way I was going to go to run up there and claim it because I knew it would be crowded,” he said. “When I heard them say the first name, I thought maybe they said ‘Jean’ or something similar, but when I heard them butcher my last name, I knew for sure they were saying, ‘Dean.’

“I just left whatever balance I had on my machine and ran up there,” Dean added with a laugh. “I don’t even care. Let someone else have a couple of spins. Maybe it will bring them some luck.”

Dean said the most he’s ever won prior to Sunday’s drawing was $2,000 once on a cruise ship, and a $1,400 slot jackpot at the Chumash Casino Resort. Winning a new Italian sports car was initially overwhelming.

“It’s surreal just standing here and talking about it,” Dean said. “I’ve been coming for 25 years, since it was a tent. For me, this is pure entertainment. I’ll pass through the area on business, and coming here is just a great release after work.”

Dean accumulated entries for the drawing over the past three months by using his gold tier Club Indulge card whenever he played slots or table games on the casino floor.

The Chumash Casino Resort features a car giveaway every week, but the next quarterly giveaway will be called “Two for the Road,” featuring two luxury BMWs – a 2019 M4 Convertible and a 2019 X5 – valued at over $150,000. The “Two for the Road” drawing will be held at 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. For more details, visit the Club Indulge desk at the casino or log on to www.chumashcasino.com.

Located on Highway 246 in Santa Ynez, California, the Chumash Casino Resort is a 21-and-over facility that is owned and operated by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. The casino’s gaming floor is open 24/7 and features 2,400 slot machines, nearly 50 table games, bingo, poker and weekly car giveaways.
