CAMARILLO MAN WINS $50K TOP PRIZE AT CHUMASH CASINO RESORT’S QUARTERLY GIVEAWAY
SANTA YNEZ, CA – August 2, 2022 – A Camarillo man took home the $50,000 top prize Sunday night at the Chumash Casino Resort’s quarterly “Unfold Your Fortune” grand-prize giveaway, which featured $250,000 in cash and prizes.
The winner, a guest known as Rodney S., got a call from his host informing him that his name was drawn while he was driving home from the casino Sunday night.
Rodney said when he answered the phone, his host sounded excited, so he figured he won something like $5,000. His host informed him that it was 10 times that much: $50,000 in cash.
“I was shocked,” Rodney said. “I started thinking what I’ll do with $50,000.”
It didn’t take long for Rodney to figure that out.
“I’ll save the majority of it, but I have a granddaughter who just got accepted to San Francisco State (University), so I’m going to help her with her tuition,” Rodney said.
Guests accumulated entries for the drawing over the past three months by using their player’s club card whenever they played slots or table games on the casino floor. Rodney, though, exclusively sticks to the video poker machines just outside of the non-smoking room.
“It’s always nice to hit, I didn’t expect that,” Rodney said. “The last time I hit that big at Chumash was last year for $25,000 in slot free play.”
Rodney said he ventures up from Camarillo to the Chumash Casino Resort often, and there’s a reason why he keeps coming back.
“My host Teresa is so nice to me and always has been, I feel like I know her,” Rodney said. “They’re real people there and down-to-earth – not standoffish, not fake. I like that about them.”
The Chumash Casino Resort conducts its $100,000 Weekly Wheels Car and Free Play Giveaway every week, but the next quarterly giveaway will be called “Win N’ Go,” featuring a 2022 Winnebago Navion valued at over $150,000.
